I am too much fond of millets these days. Thanks to the cookery shows that showed me we could get it everywhere these days. But, what actually inspired me is a series of write up by a doctor in Ananda Vikatan, a popular Tamil weekly.
Millet Pros:
The doctor clearly explains most of the diseases are coz of poor eating habits of these days. For instance, diabetes, a threat to majority of Indians came with the rice we eat these days. This rice is not the one our ancestors had, they had various varieties of rice in the past. Millets were consumed by then. Millets are gluten free, help in weight loss, prevent diabetes, rich in nutrients, fiber and antioxidants. In short, what we need now for a healthy life can be offered by millets.
I have started this thread to share what we cook in millets. I am not able to find many recipes as we can try with these varieties. We need to appease the taste buds too. The recipes are more generic in many sites. Our IL members would have certainly tried a few millet recipes and can tell how it worked or where it went wrong. To begin with I give what I have tried as of now. As and when I try, I will keep posting.
