Sheikh Mastan - a resident of the Guntur district of the
Andhra Pradesh - walked up the seven hills of Tirumala
hill shrine and reached the main entrance of the holy
Tirumala Temple..It was the year 1982.
He wanted to meet the highest officials of Devasthanam Board.
Some important discussion relating to Golden Jubilee celebration of TTD was going on. They wanted to make the celebration a memorable everlasting event.
It is at this juncture the Muslim gentleman wanted to meet the officials.
The higherups wanted to speak to the man for a few seconds and send him off without wasting their precious meeting hours.
Shaik Mastan greeted everyone with folded hands. The officer asked him to hurry up with his request and leave the place, as they had an Emergency meeting.
. .
..Sir my name is Sheikh Mastan.I Am a small merchant from Guntur
district.. For over many generations now my family members are great
devotees of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy.."
"..As a rule, every morning, my entire family stands in front of the holy
Sri Varu, and recites Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatam. . Without any mistakes
we also recite Venkateswara Sthotram, Srinivasa Prapatti and Mangala
Sasanam.. I can even recite Srinivasa Gadyam fully..
..Sir for many generations it has also been a sacred tradition in our
family to perform ashtottara sata nama puja (a prayer during which time 108
holy names of Lord Venkateswara are recited) to Sri Varu in our house every
Tuesday.."
.. But sir, several decades ago my paternal great grand father had made a vow to
himself that he would place 108 Golden Lotus Flowers at the holy Lotus feet
of our Sri Varu for using them during a similar seva at the Tirumala
Temple.."For three generations we have struggled hard to procure 108 golden lotuse weighing 23gms each.
" Please accept these golden lotuses as a gift from our poor family to Sri Varu and make use of them in a Seva in the temple so that my great Grand father's soul shall rest in peace."
Emotional Holistic silence in the Board Room!
The Executive officer ,with unstoppable tears rushed to Mastan whom he never even had offered a seat.
Though he accepted the lotuses he could not guarantee of them being used in a SEVA, since the matter had to be decided at higher level.
After two or three meetings it was decided to commence a new SEVA called
Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana Seva every Tuesday during which 108 sacred names of Lord Venkateswara shall be recited and foreach name one golden lotus gifted by Mastan shall be placed at the feet of the Lord.
No doubt that there was the invisible hand of Lord that arranged for the coincidence of events leading to memorable commencement of Arjitha Seva in the golden jubilee year.
I can't but recollect about Mumtaz Ali,popularly known a Sri M.He was born in 1948 in Trivandrum. He started his spiritual journey at the tender age of 9 under maheswarnath babaji.Next 10 years he acquired many spiritual experiences,He interacted with many Gurus in Himalayas and explored many caves in Rishikesh.
He has written many books on Vedanta and his commentaries on Upanishads, especially Mandukya Upanaishad, is couched in simple style intelligible even to me.
When we visited Vatican Church in 2007, I could feel a similar vibration as if we are inside the sanctum sanctorum of Thirumala, Madurai or Tiruchendur or Samadhi of Thygabrahman.
The words Temple, mosque and church -all have only 6 letters each.
Allah and Alarmel marban are one and the same.
